Selection Data
Provide minimum and maximum board length, width, thickness, weight, warpage, edge clearance and component height on both sides. State conveyor direction, transfer height, speed, lane count, magazine format, required buffer time and cleanroom or ESD requirements.
Confirm the line interface. SMEMA-style signals are common, but physical connectors, optional signals, recipe control and traceability may differ. A handshake confirms transfer readiness; it does not ensure consistent data exchange.
Common Problems
- Rail width or alignment causes jams.
- Worn or contaminated belts create skew and unstable transfer.
- Thin boards sag without adequate support.
- Sensors misread dark, reflective or unusual board edges.
- Incorrect magazine pitch scratches components.
- Buffers lose board identity when traceability logic is weak.
- Upstream and downstream timing creates repeated micro-stops.
Handling faults can appear as printer or placement errors because the next machine receives a board in a poor position. Diagnose the complete transfer path.
Acceptance Checklist
Test the thinnest, widest, heaviest and most populated boards. Demonstrate normal transfer, full and empty magazines, reject routing, line stop, restart, power recovery, bypass mode and traceability. Record sustained throughput rather than one successful board.
